I agree with the article, I would rather have HDDVD, but content is king. If the studios all move bluray, HDDVD will die. I haven't read a single article, except if from a PS3 fanboy, that doesn't like the HDDVD format over bluray. Everyone seems to concede that HDDVD is the consumers choice. I think the "on the fence" studios just want to have the war end. And they see the entrenched studios all on the BR side, like disney. If they move to bluray, they can make the war end faster, and make more money.

You notice every detail if you have a good tv like a plasma or whatever. You can also catch bad CG effects, and other stuff, cuz its so clear. But for the most part, I love it. Another good one, try King Kong on HD. Try to get over Adrian Brody's nose. ;-)
Even thou thousands got King Kong, I would agree that the movie was well done and looks great.

Correction: I read that there IS a bluray DVD hybrid disc in the spec, but I have never seen or heard of one yet, and I don't think its in the 1.0 spec. So eventually you might see dvd and bluray on same disc. dvd/hddvd discs are already out there, since day 1.

    Ragboy,
I was watching Pirates of the Caribbean on Blu-Ray and I have an interesting gripe. It was too realistic! Does that make sense? The sea creature (Giant Squid) looked soo fake and the people looked so real that it took away from the "movie aspect". All the animation and graphics looked fake b/c the people looked so real. Perhaps I'm the only one that has witnessed this, but I found that I prefer the ol' DVD or HDDVD format. I think my sh!t is too good for me...............

anyway I loved your write up...and good luck with your sql....whatever thingamagig.......

Its not just that with bluray. You click on some menu items, and you could also get load times.
