The studios have to bring the prices down. It should be like $1.99 to rent, and 2.99 for HD, and like 6-7 for SD buy, and 10-12 for HD buy. They don't have to manufacture anything. Drives me crazy.

I'd rather rent than buy anyways.

You can only rent HD, but you can buy SD 480P movies.

For those of us stuck with HD DVD players, Amazon is having a sale on HD DVD's right now, 50% off. Some are combo HD DVD and regular DVD, so are just HD DVD. For 15 bucks I picked up a couple classics that will work for the next couple of years until I move to blue ray.

The new apple tv is a great alternative to either, not quite the quality, but GREAT all the same. Here is a very detailed review, with part 2 coming, that will give HD movie side by side comparisons.

Being a PS3 owner I am going to have to disagree. It is inconceivably quieter then the xbox 360. I know becuase I have had experience with both.

I don't think that is true. Analysts don't even consider x360 hd players, and ps3s when they count hd player saturation. Most people use 360/ps3 to play video games.

Also, IMHO, audio is as important a part of a great theatre as the picture. It is what engages you. Both the x360 and ps3 are poor theatre players because they are software based, not chip based. So a set top hd/br player runs all processing through a specialized chip, and doesn't need all those fans for cooling and stuff. I have personal experience with hd on 360, its way to loud, you can hear it during dialogue and stuff. I hear the ps3 is the pretty much the same.

The cool thing is that the x360 could have both devices

I still wouldn't buy one if it were manufactured by Sony.
