    OWN,
Keep you head up. Atleast they will get some money out of this. Most don't much over 2 weeks pay and paid out for remaining vacation.
If its not fun, Why do it?

I had to layoff several people, one with 8 kids and barely getting by. This was in 1987 and it was probably the hardest thing I had ever done. Some of these people were even my friends.

What helped for me was human resources. All I had to do was leave them all a message to report to human resources and HR did all the legal stuff.

What did not help is when they got back to the office. Each had to be escorted to their desk by security, observed by security and me as to what they removed from their desk. During that very unpleasant time I was cussed, glared, and otherwise chewed out. I was allowed by HR to say nothing because of legal matters and just stood there and took the abuse.

      A very difficult day indeed.

Things went pretty well. Both the guys that are or were partners, understood their value had been realized and they were kind of dead wood. They had been sitting back collecting a pay check without putting out much work, they would have done the same thing if it were them paying their salaries. It is interesting to me how long people will collect a check for not doing anything. I have had slow times, that is when I work twice as hard to find more work. Some sit back and think they deserve pay for the time they worked extra hard sometime in the past. Well my last two days wasn't all bad. I in the midst of laying off 2 and firing 1 (guy stealing stuff to do side jobs on company time and with company equipment), the last one wasn't tough, he deserves to have some hard times, I was able to sell one of my condos that are just getting finished. I'm down to 7 left of 28. In these times I feel very fortunate to still be getting traffic, I have had 3 sells totalling 6.5 mil. in the last 90 days. To those that continue to work hard and then get laid off for lack of work to do, I feel very bad for them. I hope things start to come back soon for all of us, especially those that have been laid off.
My dad always said "Stupid Hurts". He's yet to be proven wrong, but for some reason I keep trying.
