I was just going to simply remove the wires from the taps switch and replace with my own signal wires. If the PDM sees the wires have been removed and throws a fit, I would have wired them to another switch kept under the helm, unused.

Our 2020 23ZX has the stern thruster control integrated where the old taps control was on the throttle handle. The taps can only be controlled on the screen for us. Please note though, our boat was used for the promo video and photo shoots, and has a few R&D items on her not found on other Tige models. I don't know if they have done others with the stern thruster control in the same location - just sharing because it can be (and has been) done.

I could see adding a multiple pole, double throw toggle switch to either enable the taps switch to control the taps plate or the thruster. Flip the toggle switch to Taps and thumb button on throttle controls Taps, flip toggle to thruster and thumb switch controls thruster.....that’s what I’d do!!!!!

If you're looking for a quality thruster for smooth docking, look no further than ezDrive thrusters: https://www.ezdrivethruster.com/

Quite a few Tiges have also had this installed on them as well so you know they're reliable:

I’ll add to awkward: see Supra’s new setup...thruster control is nicely and integrated into the throttle. Well done!

The thruster option Tige offers has the control on the throttle handle also.

No way did I want to start drilling holes until things are all finalized. Wire came over the back on the first two tests at the lake, then I purchased a penetration seal that multiple wires can go through, and enlarged the hole where the surf plate actuator wire comes through. Two wires through one hole, and my transom is still in tact.

I would like very much to have the switch on the throttle so that you can have one hand there and the other on the wheel. My initial remote let me easily hold in my hand that was on the wheel or throttle, but the new setup is a bit more sophisticated in its capabilities. I have a couple ideas to get the thumb switch on the throttle lever, but that might just have to be an upgrade option at some point if it takes much time to develop.

Can't spill the beans on my solution for power, but it will make perfect sense once we bring to market.
                        Any update on this?

Yeah any updates. I just posted a thread here asking what has been done to be able to do it yourself. Now that this idea of a stern thruster has been out there and many have tried it and found the value of it I would hope there are ideas out there as how to get it done for a lot cheaper than 5-10k. It sure does not need to interconnect to the steering and just a MO-off-MO switch can work. And yes I drive very well yet I found this to be a very good addition to inboards. My boat with the FAE does not want to walk sideways in reverse, It just goes straight so this could really help improve maneuverability in tight places. So what options are out there now?

Initial testing has gone very well on the test stand looking at thrust and power requirements at various thrust levels. However, I got a little behind on the development due to a large equipment order that we are building for Saudi with my other business, but hoping to get back on it this month. I have two units mounted on the boat now and just need to get them wired up to the control system, but had to move the boat from my shop to the hanger to free up floor space.

I just purchased a 25ZX that has the thruster on it. I have to say I was a bit skeptical how useful and how much I would use it. Given that I have owned quite a few boats and consider myself a pretty competent v drive boat operator. Two trips out and wow was I wrong. It totally changes driving these boats no matter how skilled you think you are. It’s also awesome for picking up downed riders.
