I want to see if you can get your boat on plane with all that ballast capacity...... You might find the limit of your 5 blade.

If and when you get out my way I'll get you out In a slammed taps 3 boat, might have a different opinion, or might not. I've learned that opinions are like.... Well, you know.Originally posted by duffymahoney View PostSurf systems are interesting. They are totally helping the sport and getting people out surfing. I will be surprised if it's makes my nicer, but who knows! I have surfed almost all new boats with systems and none touch my wave, it's actually pretty funny when I get an owner of a new g25 or whatever on my boat and their jaw drops
I think heavily listed boats will become a rarity though. I should have mine done for the weekend.Germaine Marine

I surfed Z3's (non taps 3), Slammed G's, Wakesetters etc.. All the same, it's a great wave just not the same size or push.Originally posted by elevatedconcept View PostIf and when you get out my way I'll get you out In a slammed taps 3 boat, might have a different opinion, or might not. I am not planning on filling my whole ballast system
I believe the motor would explode. My goal is to hopefully add a little length to the wave with the suck gate. Plus it was fun to build.

...and Duffy heads for the darkside.
I'm excited to see what happens with your wave Duffy. I'm sure we all are. You might even find it useful as a tuning device. It'll at least add some more data to the pool.
Banged out another Sucgate last night. Took about about two beers, I mean hours. Mostly identical to the first. The hardware is a little different. The HOD is a little different in that it has pins with c-clips on the levers which made it nice for removing the cups for assembly. Word to the wise though, don't drill the holes for the brackets dead in line with the pin. It makes it a pita to get them back in. The new shelf brackets have the supports tacked in instead of just friction fit. We'll see how long those last. The "blade" itself has a bit of curve to it. It starts at 18 degrees on the boat edge and exits at 21 degrees off the end of it. I also tuned the top edge of the blade to eliminate the hard edges. Water follows curves and releases off of hard edges so maybe it'll keep the spray to a minimum?Attached FilesYou'll get your chance, smart guy.

I have already lost one to the bottom of the lake
It lasted all of 7 seconds and then snapped 500# test line. This next one will be aluminum, tig welded and covered in fanoodles. Hopefully the combo will be light enough to float. I plan on using steel cord or something to keep from losing it this time.

I love my new Delta! Worth every penny of the $450. I loved my slammed wave before, but with the Delta it made it way longer, way more forgiving, and the transition is so smooth with tons of push. I still run it slammed but with only half the bow weight. The suction cups are fricken strong too. I don't see how it could ever come loose.

I've only run it on the 21v with 400 in surfside locker. And then the same 400 in offside locker. It was almost a better surf style wave. Seemed like it had more vert and more lip. See my previous posts for those pics. I'll most likely try that again and ride it myself. Got a new board to ride too! You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Exactly why you should come out with me when you are down this way. I too have been behind almost all of them, to me this system is drastically different...Germaine Marine

Here is a picture of my DIY surf tab. I made it for fun and it does a decent job and it gives me the ability to go from wakeboarding to surfing much quicker. It did fall off the side of the boat so I made the blade smaller and drilled a few 1" holes in it. I'm hoping that will lower the force and keep it from falling off.
The suction cup and cutting boards were bought at harbor freight. The metal shelf brackets are from Home Depot. Total cost was around $25.

Well my results aren't that great. No matter what weight we tried it's still not as good as my fully listed wave. I would say it was 85% or so my fully listed wave.
I tried
2500 surf side, suckgate on with it furthest back. 500 in the bow. I had a crew of 10, tried moving them which didn't seem to hurt the wave. Speed range was 11-12.5. Wave was long and very pretty. But the transition was strange and the lip was soft. It looked a lot like the slammed g23-25 waves I have surfed. The wave also didn't have as much push. I bet most people would have been very happy with it. But still not as good as my heavily listed wave.
I did everything full, so about 4500 in water and another 700 in lead, but with 10 people my boat couldn't get past 10 mph.
I did 75% full and the boat got to speed but rpms were very high and that caused the wave to be washy.
Everything 50% the boat held speed fine and the wave was pretty. Reminded me of the stock 247 gate wave. Again most people would have been happy with it, especially skim surfers. Just lacked the height, push and size of my listed wave.
I will try it again today with a smaller crew. Also I might use it for teaching people to surf since the lip is softer it will be more foregiving. Super fun to build!Build thread: http://www.tigeowners.com/forum/showthread.php?14787-Duffy-s-2005-24v-wakesurfing-mod-thread&highlight=duffys+24v

This is exactly what my suckgate did too. That line in the wave 1/2 way up is killling it. How are guys getting rid of it?Originally posted by acropilotbret View PostSuck gate goofy with 4 people in the boat 450 each locker 2007 22ve
