I'm very late to the party, but here's my 2 cents. I just odered a Swell Wake to try. I had to trim it so it would fit below the step. Nothing can be attached above the step, as the hull on my 2012 RZR curves above the step, so the suction cups cannot be attached. But presumably, below the step and towards the rear is the best place anyway.

So we tried it. Now keep in mind that surfing is a challange on my lake anyway, since there is just one 1/2 mile channel with 10+ feet of depth. Anywhere else on the lake requires the rope. So I tried the recommended even balkast first. Wake was cleaner and longer, but no push. Tried listing ballast next, still no push. Took it off and had push. We tried every speed from 9.8 to 13.0, with every TAPS setting, none produced a surfable wave with the gate attached. As soon as we removed it, 10.6 and TAPS 4 worked like it always does.

My take. Listing is the best and the more ballast the better. The gate may be helpful if I had a lot more ballast or deeper water, but in my situation, no. I have the built in lockers and 600 lbs add on bags on each side. I have the horseshoe bag in front, wish I had the seperate ones so I could list more. Also we rarely have extra crew for ballast.

Adam at Swell Wake was great, he took it back trimmed. I don't think angles or position would have changed anything or helped. My attraction was the idea of not having to swap balkast for goofy riders, but this isn't going to happen.

I made everything accept the suction cups. I took the handle apart to get a smaller footprint and milled new cups into my Delrin base..

        2002 Tige 21V riders edition
        Shaved swim step
        400lbs each rear locker
200lbs lead bags under mid boat
500lbs bow bag under the seats
Surf exhaust changed the game and the wave a bit
Suc gate location all the way in the rear and at the very lowest flat area.
        Taps at 4
11.6-14mph but taps need to go to 6 at 14mph to keep the nose up
        Angle of gate at 65°
3500w of strerio to keep the surfer pumped
I run with everyone in the rear seating accept i like to put one fatty in the front on riders side.
I could put 1400 each rear locker with my sacs but I dont have the power to push the boat that weighted with the gate on. Looking to go with a new prop to help with that.
The angle adjustment of the gate is key though. I have been testing this thing on 8 different boats now and each one is different on the sweet spot. Location and angle.
I have tested against the Delta and am not impressed with it at all. The gas consumption is outragous(yes i know I am boating so fuel goes quick) and the spray is crazy due to the set angle of 88°.
Not trying to bash on delta at all just showing you can make a way better product in your garage and get just as good or better results. It looks like Delta will have one more in stock to who ever gets it first good luck and pad the back of your boat. Mine got returned today.

I tried a variety of speeds and moving people to the front but it never cleaned up. I started taking weight out and I pretty much drained the off side before it cleaned up. But really that is how I ran it before the gate also.

Thoughts? How do you weight your boat with a gate! What about taps?

At low depth (less than 13 feet) I was never able to have a clean wake, changed lake, everything whent back to normal. So depth has an impact on your wake. Also up here (Canada) no wake boats are allowed to tow/surf in less than 30feet deep Water ways. They issued this Last summer.

Gave the tsunami wake a go over the weekend on my RZR, even ballast about 50% rears on surf sacs and full ballast front taps on 4, this lengthened the wake and did clean up some

Still need to play around some more to get optimum result

Slamming with with more weight brought that up into the peak of the wave really giving it a nice lip......

That's some nice chocolate milk you got there

What I do know is that an RZR can produce a much taller and longer wave with some more ballast anc maybe even without the suck gate.

                      Hi all,
Would suggest the Nauticurl Wake Shaper Surf Gate. Easy on the pocket book and makes an incredible difference. The Obrien Nalu is a solid board for starters up to advanced surfers.

Man, these things keep popping up all over the place now. They'll be under a hundred bucks before we know it.

                            NautiCurl Wake Shaper Surf Gate

Hi, thanks for asking and happy holidays! Days are getting longer now, can't wait for Spring!
We're a couple of semi-retired competitive wakeboarders turned wakesurfers (getting old and easier on the back) and wanted to create a wake shaper product that was engineered, had stylish design and was affordable, thus Nauticurl. To answer your question:
                            - We used FEA analysis to design the shape and curvature to minimize outward pressure on the suction cups while displacing the most water (I'm a geek Engineer by trade). This allows for maximized suction.
                            - It's built from aluminum alloy with bull-nosed/rounded edges and an extra thick powder coat finish to protect riders and the boat.
                            - We incorporated the cups and levers into the design rather than buying a glass puller and bolting it to a product. Creates a streamline look, doesn't impact water flow and we used stainless bolts and nylock nuts.
                            - We wanted a stylish sleek design that fits with the style of wake sports and boats. Wanted something users would be proud to carry down their dock and attach to their boat. Nice boat, nice board, nice rope, nice wake shaper. No Frankenstein-gate.
                            - Lastly, it's affordable and we want to make the customer happy. $219, free Koozie, flat shipping, lanyard included and we're working to develop a brand not just a product.

Sorry for the long post, we're passionate about the sport and want to spread it. Please check it out and would love feedback.
                            Cheers!

Looks great. Love that the levers are so easy to get to. How does the plate attach to the cups?

                                Hi,
Thank you Unstuck, yes the ease of access was important. There are aluminum rings on the underside. The cups are spring loaded and pin through the plate and cup. I've attached a photo and more can be found on our website. www.nauticurl.com
                                Cheers!
