He really didn't know at all and we tired to help him, we filled factory 100% and he has a bad that fills the whole storage compartment on each side, not sure what the size was exactly but it looks close to the 1K we have in our boat, with one filled on the surf side it was just washed out, speed didn't help either. We tried from 10.2 all the way to 15 just to see in .2 increments and it didn't change much, then filled factory and each bag half and this was the result with the sharper. He really needs a bag up front and I think that would help his listed wake, we have 5 total in the boat and with 4 of us up front maybe 500LBS it was a little better with the gate but did't clean anything up listed. He has a F24.

What does your gate look like I made one and it didn't work

Here is my final product. It works great. I am running a 500 lb (they may be 650 lb bag) bag in each of my rear lockers and a 400 lb bag in my walkway up front in my 2004 20V. The wake face is not the cleanest, but man there is a LOT of push on this wave. To be clear the surf gate is not creating the larger wake, it is the extra weight. What the gate allows me to do is put more weight evenly on my boat and not feel like I'm tipping the boat over, and the quick changeover from side to side is AWESOME!

Last night I got to take my "suck gate" on its inaugural voyage on my 22Ve - it was AWESOME! Both sides of the wake were taller, longer and had more push vs. my standard listed wake with MLA customs. I'd been following the "suck gate" thread on Mastercraft Team Talk for a while, and ended up knocking off user Bet_On_Black's design (post #686 shown here):

                  https://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk...=70442&page=69

Apparently those aluminum handles people keep using with cutting boards and bookshelf brackets have springs that will eventually rust - so I used this handle which has stainless steel springs:

                  http://www.westmarine.com/buy/seatea...ndle--12040234

I built the other parts from 1/2" thick HDPE starboard from Amazon.com here:

                  https://www.amazon.com/Seaboard-Dens...%22+thick+HDPE

I don't have a picture of my gate, but it basically looks like Bet_On_Blacks, with crappier craftsmanship...

My set up was as follows: surf side full, non-surf side 400-700 lbs (we messed around so much, not sure what is ideal), 300 lbs. in the bow, and 3 passengers (2 sitting surf side). Speed 11.6 - 11.8, TAPS 6-7. I placed the gate below the "step" in the hull - basically as far back and as low as possible. I didn't have any issues with spray coming in the locker - it stayed behind the boat.

RPM's were up only slightly. Normally surfs around 2800 - with the gate it was more like 3000-3100.

Very cool insights. Thanks for posting and great wave.

I went and looked through the Mastercraft stuff. I don't want to be a homer, but the waves they are getting are nothing like yours (or the other Tiges on here). I know the older MCs weren't great surf boats though.

Oh I totally agree - most of the stuff on MC forums are guys simply making surfable waves on boats that were barely capable of surfing without a gate (old x-stars, direct drives, etc.)

I loved my 22Ve wave even before I did this - but I wanted to provide another data point that showed it can significantly better with the gate.

rhoadsdj I did the same and placed mine below the step. The wave inst as good IMO as above the step but I did solve the water in the locker problem.

Has anyone tried the Mission Delta on an older v-drive? I know they have shipped out and I am looking forward to getting mine.

What year, make and model is your boat? Most folks are seeing benefits in an evenly weighted boat. I would think you would see noticeable improvements in an older hull. There are a lot of variables so it would undoubtedly require tuning with ballast.

You can save yourself $450 and build a suc gate yourself. There's a lot of info on this and other forums on how to do so.
