We're a couple of semi-retired competitive wakeboarders turned wakesurfers (getting old and easier on the back) and wanted to create a wake shaper product that was engineered, had stylish design and was affordable, thus Nauticurl. To answer your question:
    - We used FEA analysis to design the shape and curvature to minimize outward pressure on the suction cups while displacing the most water (I'm a geek Engineer by trade). This allows for maximized suction.
    - It's built from aluminum alloy with bull-nosed/rounded edges and an extra thick powder coat finish to protect riders and the boat.
    - We incorporated the cups and levers into the design rather than buying a glass puller and bolting it to a product. Creates a streamline look, doesn't impact water flow and we used stainless bolts and nylock nuts.
    - We wanted a stylish sleek design that fits with the style of wake sports and boats. Wanted something users would be proud to carry down their dock and attach to their boat. Nice boat, nice board, nice rope, nice wake shaper. No Frankenstein-gate.
    - Lastly, it's affordable and we want to make the customer happy. Less than $200, free Koozie, flat shipping, lanyard included and we're working to develop a brand not just a product.

Sorry for the long post, we're passionate about the sport and want to spread it. Please check it out and would love feedback.
    Cheers!

Has anyone used one of these types of products along with the Tigw vx or AVX??

I think maybe this would work well with the AVX allowing for less listing and faster change over???

Has anyone ever tried to build one of these using a single suction cup? i have one that is about 6" in diameter that seems like it would work.

If you have a large enough flat spot on the hull it might work. Two smaller ones seem to hold well to slight curves in my hull. I'll stick with two.

Hey Taylormoto! Was wondering where you picked up the stainless tubing and hardware to attach to the starboard. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone validated that this or other devices will stick on the side of a Z3?
the hull has multiple chines or steps on the rear area where they would attach

Here are my results on my 2001 2100V. 600 in each rear corner and around 600 in the bow. Looks pretty good! Can't wait to surf it once it gets warmer!

With one suction cup You'd be putting a ton of pressure on whatever you use to attach it, lots of rotational pressure there.

Chopper515, wave looks great, lets see some pics of you on it!

Chopper515 where did you position the gate on the side of your boat? That wave looks amazing. Could you provide the speed you were at and TAPS setting? My wave was nice but not quite that clean - let me know!

mdk681, See photos for install location. Taps was at around 4. I forgot to mess with taps to check the effect, but I will next time out. There were 2 adults in the boat, 600 in each locker and around 600 in the bow. Speed was 11.0 mph on ridesteady gps. FYI, the ballast isn't full in the photo in the water. When full the gate sits pretty much completely under the water.

Does anyone have any experience us a mission delta wake surf on a 2008 z1, there isn't a real flat surface to mount to and the tige logo looks like it may get in the way

I have an 08 Z1 as well. Don't waste your money on a Mission. I have tried a homemade "suck" gate and can tell you with the Z1 hull it is useless. Keep in mind the ultimate result of any surf gate is simply to make the boat go through the water at a bit on angle. With the aft of the boat slightly sideways it creates a cleaner wave on the opposite side. The suckgate version I made did nothing but shoot a fountain of water up in the air then straight down into air vent for the motor. The reason was you can't get it low enough due to the ridge line in the hull. Below the ridge line the surface is curved and any suction cup style device won't stick to it.

I stole Frosty_Power design and fabricated one out of the same thick plastic. This concoction hooks onto the side of the swim deck and creates the drag from the opposite side of the stern. I wish I had made the angle a little steeper to create a bit more drag but if definitely cleans up the wave lip. Here are some pics of my device. Go easy on my engineering! Frosty_power has a good thread showing the one he made of plywood. He also used large flap to eliminate the spray that comes from the 2 inch lip on the back of our swimdecks.
