Taylormoto, That wake looks good. Interesting with the change in angle. Looks like we have the same boat - 21V - how are you weighting the boat and where exactly are you placing the sucgate?

        2002 Tige 21V riders edition
        Shaved swim step
        400lbs each rear locker
200lbs lead bags under mid boat
500lbs bow bag under the seats
Surf exhaust changed the game and the wave a bit
Suc gate location all the way in the rear and at the very lowest flat area.
        Taps at 4
11.6-14mph but taps need to go to 6 at 14mph to keep the nose up
        Angle of gate at 65°
3500w of strerio to keep the surfer pumped
I run with everyone in the rear seating accept i like to put one fatty in the front on riders side.
I could put 1400 each rear locker with my sacs but I dont have the power to push the boat that weighted with the gate on. Looking to go with a new prop to help with that.
The angle adjustment of the gate is key though. I have been testing this thing on 8 different boats now and each one is different on the sweet spot. Location and angle.
I have tested against the Delta and am not impressed with it at all. The gas consumption is outragous(yes i know I am boating so fuel goes quick) and the spray is crazy due to the set angle of 88°.
Not trying to bash on delta at all just showing you can make a way better product in your garage and get just as good or better results. It looks like Delta will have one more in stock to who ever gets it first good luck and pad the back of your boat. Mine got returned today.

Do you think it's worth having it adjustable? I'm also surfing my 21v. If I change mine to that angle (65*) I should be good? And when you say all the way down do you mean mount it on the hull just above the spray pocket?

What is the demensions of the tab?

          Thanks.

I just made suckgate today, about $55 with all stainless hardware, shelf brackets and cutting board. I made it "quick adjustable" with wing nuts.. We'll see how they hold up.

My question is this. I plan on running the suck gate with the wake plate furthest back. Angle looks to be around 70*. The way I have it set up, there's space between the brackets and plate (cutting board). Do you think it will affect wave any?

I put it under the spray pocket. Its only about a 4'' face
              Tab dementions are 7''x9'' ish

The adjustability is key. It changes the wave so much when you are running 8 people in the boat vs 3. Running 3 peeps i put it to about 80° the more weight in the boat the less angle needed to get the same wave. Also if you want to jump on your buddys boat and show them what it can do on there ride it helps alot. Graphic location also has a ton to do with it. Some boats I have had to run the gate half way down the boat at a greater angle and it has the same outcome. I guess I look at it like why wouldn't you make it adjustable if you could. Btw Delta has fallen off my boat every day and the spring leash launches the unit into the back of your boat. Had it end up on my rear seat once. My version has never fallen off yet after days and days of use.

After reading all these posts, I decided to build a gate also. Have always surfed a listed boat so I was excited to try it! Weighted boat evenly and could tell the wave was much longer. Tried some tandem surfing for kicks!

For shits and giggles im debating giving one a try on my new z3 so I can shed some light on if they further enhance system boats.. I just dont want to go through the time of making one then it not being right and having to make another and so on and so forth...

Anyone want to make me one that is tried and true with the adjustable angle for the sake of being an experiment? Ill pay for the material and shipping....

Taylormoto- where did you get the adjustable hardware?

Elevated- if you pay for two sets of hardware, I'll build us both one.

So I tested my suck gate today. The aluminum handle was the bomb. However my results were mixed. With zero ballast it made a nice wave. When I filled all ballast (800 front and 2600 rear) the boat was very nose high. The wave was very washed out.

I tried a variety of speeds and moving people to the front but it never cleaned up. I started taking weight out and I pretty much drained the off side before it cleaned up. But really that is how I ran it before the gate also.

Thoughts? How do you weight your boat with a gate! What about taps?

Generally speaking it Seems like a little list and less nose is the ticket with theses gates.

                            And speed up a little.

I don't know if it is different on the 2016+ hill bit when we had our G23 we got the best wave with a little list when using NSS. We would have the Surfside heavier by 300-400 lbs. This seems to be the norm for NSS equipped boats. I wonder of its the same for Malibu gate boats. If so, it's a clear indication that a slight list is still needed to produce the best wave.

I found that when I listed the boat normally the gate cleaned up the wave a bit. Typically I still would require bodies on the surf side but this negated that requirement.

When I load all that rear ballast it is hard to get the nose down.
