2001 23V rebuild from the ground up

Tons of progress this weekend.
Got the tower on, windshields on, bimini on, motor is in, tabs are back on.
Next up is wiring. I'm leaning toward a full rewire at this point, there's just so many extraneous wires in this harness for what I need.

Thanks I'm pretty happy with it.
Original plan was to build one but this worked out to be easier and not much more expensive. It checks most of the boxes I wanted in the build anyway.

The tower I grabbed on sale for 999 which I think is more than fair, but the bimini is where they stick you! I think it was another 700 or so.

I’m interested to see the how the gates workout on that hull. I’d think they’d work great but, I don’t think I’ve seen a full gate setup on a 23v.

Tower is a Monster MTK.

Nick, I did these before we rebuilt everything and with 800-1000 lbs of ballast and 6-8 people in the boat they worked really well. I didn't get enough time behind it to really judge them harshly yet though.

Wow! What an amazing build! We have the same boat, and this is exactly what I have been talking about doing to my boat. Did you take out all the carpet in the boat?

Looks amazing. I installed the Monster MTK with their spinning board racks and bimini on my 2000 2300V and I am very very happy with it. Their customer service is fantastic! The tower is rock solid as well, unlike my old Metcraft tower.

does that tower fold down easily to fit in a garage? looks great, i'm just curious why it's so cheap compared to a samson or other quality brand towers.

jtryon - The tower folds down quite easily. You remove two twist knobs, similar to samson blade, and depending on how you install the tower it can fold forward or backward, which ever works best for your boat. I looked into the samson blade as well and spoke with Tija out in Washington and it was just too expensive. The quote they gave me was $6,180 ($2,950 for tower, $1000 for bimini, $1330 for pair of board racks, and $900 to ship to Indiana. I believe the difference in price comes down to the universal fit of the MTK/installation and shipping. The blade comes manufactured and sized exactly for your boat and the MTK takes some adjusting and squaring up. The freight for blade is much more expensive because it comes already assembled where the MTK you assemble during install (smaller package to ship). It's just tube, so it's not as fancy spaceship looking as some of the new ones but I like it.
Yes it can fold either forward or backward depending on how you install it. Mine folds back on the sun deck.

CM did you reinforce the hull sides or just bolt it in? I didn't and it seems fine but can't hurt to ask

You shouldn’t have any issues with the mounts. Tiges of that vintage are way over built. That’s one of the reasons I bought one.

Monster has always built very sturdy towers. I’m not a fan of arch towers but that particular Monster looks really nice. Especially the white (looks at Sonic). I think it’s one of the best aftermarket options out there. Given the price, you can’t go wrong.

Sonic- My buddy really wants to gate his 21v. What kind of control are you using?

SONIC - I bought the material to reinforce the gunnels but once I got the seats off and went to install I chose not to due to space. My tower from the factory didn't have any reinforcement or splintering in fiberglass so I figured the gaskets and squared washers provided by monster would be fine. No issues yet. Seems as though these older Tige's are pretty heavy due to how think the fiber glass is.

At the moment I'm running them off the 2nd tap on the bennett hydraulic pump for the TAPS. A bunch of relays and diodes to make the switches do what I want.
Doing it again I'd just put a couple Lencos back there and call it a day.
I don't really see the point of the automated systems, i just push the buttons when I want the tabs to move lol. I rode behind a G23 and it was a pain in the *** waiting for the surf system to kick in, sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't. I'd rather just send the tab out from a stop and hit the throttle. Auto transfers would be nice, but that can wait until I'm good enough to need it

I do like the white, may have to powder it white at some point!

I'd be happy to CNC him out some gates from steel, stainless, or HDPE if he wanted them.

Exactly. I'm happy to send the file for the shape as well.

The boat came with a couple extra hydraulics is the only reason I went that route.

Productive weekend.
Got a battery tray built for in front of the vdrive.
All the engine wiring is done
Relocated the Bennett tab pump to the rear of the engine.
Ballast Kings are in and plumbed.
