So we had to find the right angle for the VX and tested for regular and goofy, and the best angle was NOT the same for both and so had to find an angle that was the best compromise. It was this testing that we did over a couple of trips to Texas that spawned the AVX so that you could put the VX in the right angle for the situation. Using a gate instead of list I am guessing would be a significant change that would make the VX work best at an adjusted angle. Just a thought.
I completely agree. This testing would truly benefit from being an AVx, but I'm stuck with what I've got. By adding your Wake9 bags and the Wake9 TAPS plate, I've found a pretty happy place on those Gen 2 brackets and it works well for both sides. I find the gate basically substitutes two very large guys on the surf side corner of the boat. The boat will not produce a clean wave without being listed though. However the Z hull doesn't need a massive list to be clean so I'm not bothered by it.

At the reunion last week I got to compare an RZX2 to my wave. I couldn't go wireless on the RZX2 and my Soulcraft, but I can do it all day on the Z1 (remember I am 280lbs). I know I sound like a homer, but the other guys there can attest. I'm not knocking the RZX2, but I think it needed more dialing.

I've never heard of this being done. It would need a lot of work. The AVx isn't identical to the Vx in shape either.

Thanks. I spent two years on the shop rebuild. I took a smallish 24x22 garage and raised it to 10' ceilings. Then I added 7' to the back for a workshop and tacked a boat-port on the side.

If you haven't figured it out by now, I never take the easy approach to anything.

The car is a 1999 30th Anniversary Trans Am Supercharged. I've had it for 17 of its 18 years and it now has a home to be proud of.

Well surfing season is back and I am itching to get back on this project (and my cedar surf board..... I just have too many projects). The good news is the shop is 98% complete.

The suck gate is still proving to be awesome. However I don't think I am quite ready to give up on the tabs. A few more experiments are in order.

I do get a great wake and my only challenge are shallow spots in my lake that are not avoidable
    What is the GSA?????

I am thinking maybe I can list a little less and not need to transfer as much ballast from side to side.
GSA is "Go Surf Assist" I have it, only have 1 trip on it since the install but so far I am very very pleased with the result

No updates on an integrated design. I decided I wasn't ready to modify the boat without a few more tests. That means waiting for spring. (which around here could be July)

A suck gate of any design is a great intermediate means to achieve a terrific result. My plan is basically to automate the gate and that will take some time (and money)

    Update here....

I haven't done anything on the boat yet this winter. I have been working on finishing the shop. However I think I need to do more testing before committing to a final design. As such I doubt anything will happen before boating season. I am still partial to the gate design.

Love all the experimentation, however in my world time constraints prevent it. I have not surfed a wave that's better--including Gen2, SurfGate, Taps3, Swell.
Set up, set up. Who's boat with what setup has a big part in that. I have been in taps 3 boats that just don't produce because of setup.

Cant wait to get you out Dakota...... Got a spot in the rotation for ya when you get some free time!
