You weren't lying, that was the hardest thing I've ever removed from an engine!

I purchased filter R58011-10 (supposed to be compatible with 396007), but the top of the filter is more narrow and doesn't have an o-ring on the filter. Any ideas? I don't see any markings on the old filter to match it.

I have the MP 340hp engine on my 2007 22VE. What's the right filter?

      Thanks!

This thread is a great example of the value of this forum; it saved me who knows how much frustration and time. FoundSoul's Youtube link, and boatwakes ever-valuable suggestions, I got my fuel filter changed out today. I knew to get a good nylon web strap wrench (got mine at Advance Auto, they're not hard to find), and to look for a 9/16" bolt in the center of the filter housing. Sure enough, I had one, and when liquid started dripping out, I smelled it; just water. Took the bottom plate off, got my strap wrench and a long handle ratchet, and it came off. It took a LOT of effort, to the point I wasn't going to be surprised if the webbing failed.

Once I got it off, I had my biggest fight, just getting the old filter out. The new filter has just enough friction to stay in place; much easier going on than off! I took boatwakes advice and greased the housing threads and o-ring. Everything went back together smoothly and seated firmly.

          Job done!!!

Thanks for all the help, and have a good one,
          Mike
