Ride the 5'3 and really like it. I messed around with a few boards initially trying to find something slick that will hold my weight at the same time and have not been disappointed with it at all. It is probably the best compromise. I am by far the heaviest guy in my crew and happy to say with the shim I don't have to sit in the boat watching the lighter guys carving it up while I (on other boards) could only be an inch from the boat.
