CHP, I just went out and looked at the rudder. 1st question I have is the rudder looks to be off to the right about 1-2" from center. Is this normal, it came from the factory this way. I "don't think" it is bent but it does look wierd, but the more I looked at it I think it was an optical illusion. I will look at it more in the day light but the 3 blades in the middle and the shaft looks like they are aligned. I will get a picture over the wkend of the rudder alignment. Could this be correct?Originally posted by chpthril View Post2nd, I think the rudder looks bent.Dale

My 22i dd came from the factory with a 4 blade SS Cutter - I didn't buy it new, but have the original paper work. The Acme 525 3 blade is best upgrade that I've done to my boat! You will think you are driving a different boat; smooth, more power & better response and no cavitation. SPBFAN can get you a price on a new prop and have yours repaired - its worth doing to have a spare. Sounds like you do not have a problem with the rudder.

Not all props are created equal. I think ACME needs to start a try-it-and-buy-it program. Once you put it on, you won't ever want to take it off. I don't care what boat you have.Originally posted by thtrog View PostMy 22i dd came from the factory with a 4 blade SS Cutter - I didn't buy it new, but have the original paper work. It's funny you say that. My bro n law called acme about a prop for his X45 and they told him what he need. They also told him to try out for a weekend and if he didn't like to send it back they would refund or try a differnt prop. I thought that was an awsome deal.Originally posted by TeamAllen View PostX2

No, but it might not be your rudder. If I had to guess, it's your strut. Might be time for an engine alignment. My dealer does that as part of the 100 hrs service.Originally posted by TRD View PostBy the way, is anyone else rudder off center? Dog? NO, my rudder holder is off center, by about 1 - 2" maybe. Didn't measure it, but it was very noticable. I don't think the rudder is bent and my alignment by sight using the 3 middle fins and the shaft looks good. Rudder is just on the right of the prop looking from the back of the boat to the front.Originally posted by dogbert View PostNo, but it might not be your rudder. If I had to guess, it's your strut. The boat runs fine, I just get some cavitation under heavy load every now and then.Originally posted by dogbert View PostI don't think it's going to hurt anything. It might be affected more when you install the FAE.
Why would it be affected more when the FAE is installed?Dale

Because the FAE is designed to sight right behind your rudder. If the alignment of the rudder is off, your handling will be affected. My FAE is an older model and sits deeper in the water. Larry's offered to swap it out, but I just haven't had the time to pull the downspout. It does act almost like another fin, so if it's off, then your handling may suffer or make it harder to steer.Originally posted by TRD View PostThe boat runs fine, I just get some cavitation under heavy load every now and then.

TRD, I'll verify on my boat for you tonight, but believe by design the rudder is off-center to the right on a LH rotation prop...at least on a direct drive.Originally posted by TRD View PostBy the way, is anyone else rudder off center?
