I use 2/0 cable for the batteries. After sliding the wire into the connector I take a center punch and pound a dimple into the barrel. Then I drill a hole in the bottom on the dimple, heat the barrel with a propane torch and fill the thing with solder. Two layers of shrink tubing and done. I've gone thru the whole boat and soldered every crimped connector I could get to. Trouble-shooting loose crimped connectors is frustrating.

You are going to have a VERY hard time getting a good solder joint with cable that large. Your best bet will be to use a torch to coat it. It will not be a true joint.
