Hey Guys, If i was to get a double set of speakers like this:

What type of amp would i need to replace the kx200.2? Since the speakers are joined together in the housing, would i just need a 2 channel? The watts could be like 400 or 500? Thanks for the help....again.

That setup would be pretty comfy with a ZX450.2 with the speakers tied together to 2-ohms per channel

A 2chnl amp pushing around 125W RMS @ 2 ohm like the 250.2 = 125x2 @ 2ohm or better yet the 350.2 = 175w 2x2 @ 2ohm

Whats the difference between the wattage on the amps. I've been looking at the 450.2's and some have like 350w and some are 1000w. Do you need a specific wattage based on what speakers you are using or anything like that? Also, do i really need a marine amp or will the normal car amps work fine?

I have the 200.2 running on a pair of Wetsounds Pro 60's and it's not very impressive, that amp just isn't enough.

Each amp will put out a different wattage depending on the load placed on each channel, the load being the speaker driver and it's impedance.

For example, the speakers that you are looking at on ebay are 2 4ohm speakers together in 1 "pod" if you will. Each pod will place a 2ohm load on the amp, so you need to look at the amp's specs per/chnl for the 2ohm speaker load and match one up that will meet, or better yet exceed by a little, the speaker's recommended Watts RMS needs.

If I remember correctly, the KS600's need 65W RMS each, so each pod would need around 130W RMS to make the speakers perform as the should. You want to look for a 2chnl amp that will produce around 130 watts RMS per/chnl @ 2ohm's.

Within the Kicker line, the 250.2 would be the minimum, the 350.2 would be better, the best would be the 450.2 as Phil suggested.

I was going to post the message below, but I just read chpthril's earlier message. So I just want to make sure I understand. If you have two 4ohm speakers in one "pod", you are actually putting a 2ohm load on the amp? So the ohm number goes down with the more speakers you have linked together?



Ok...I finally got some speakers on ebay. I'm looking to see which amp I should get for these guys. Below is a link to what I got, but don't worry I didn't pay that much for them. I'm confused on how the ohms calculation works. I noticed the KS600 speaker is 4ohm impedance, but if two speakers are grouped together in one housing, how does that calculate? Are these speakers going to be 4ohm or 2ohm on the amp?

When speakers are wired in parallel, the impedance is halved, when speakers are wired in series, the impedance is doubled. I'm 99% sure those speakers are 2 4ohm drivers wired parallel, so the amp will see a 2ohm load.

You need a 2chnl amp that will put out, at a minimum, 120W X 2 @ 2ohm as recommended in previous posts.
