Sub Sound (or lack thereof)

    Tim, I hope you understand I was having some fun... I know you do.... I also know your subs pound.... Hopefully the rest of everyone here sees this as two guys in the industry having some fun and getting along...

    Will have to wait another week to look at it. Too much work has come up That is the bummer having the boat 4 + hours away

    There's a big difference between a free-air install and just wiring it up on the ground. He had it wired up on a bench. A critical component of a free-air woofer is the baffle. That is what makes it work.

    And yes, free-air subs can and do pound. I have one and recommend it to anyone looking for a sub with limited room.

    I had my CVR12 Kicker (400W) mounted free air for a year, driven by Amp 2 of a Kicker 650.4.

    You should still get huge volume.

    I finally installed a sealed enclosure, much much better. But the "barely any sound" statement, I don't understand.

    The y-cords are just redundant to the internal switching. electrically the same... or probably the same... The head unit will have enough power.
