Nothing like watching two or three trees drift by drinking beer and boating.

Portland, the city of bridges. It is a very nice city and a lot to do there.

Sparky, you don't have to pitch that to me. My father lived in Salem for 18 years as a child. OR does have some nice benefits and also has some downfalls. 9% sales tax is not one of them.

You know........the "rain thing" is a bit over-done as with the taxes. Yes we do have a 9% income tax and no sales tax but to be honest, I've lived in HI, CA, WI, MI and they all seem to work out the same. I've actually made out here in Oregon the last few years with the boats, cars, and other various big purchases it will take a few years before the Income/Sales tax catches up with me. Over all a sales tax is a better way to tax opposed to income tax, but the way my wife and I seem to live...ie spending habits, the no sales tax works for us!
The winters are a miserable drizzle, but a manageable 50, so not all that bad and the summers here are epic. Look it up, you will see that we have less rainfall than the majority of the major metropolitan areas. Portland, is arguably, one of the prettiest, cleanest, affordable cities to live in. A bit liberal but a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Great biking, boating, skiing, and off-roading compiled with good jobs and decent home prices makes Portland hard to beat. I'm no Oregonian, but I will make a case for this state.

Now that is an idea. We only allow tubing back to the docks when we are leaving the lake. That also has worked for us.

They want the big tube........
At least they're not asking for both big tubes. Luckily, one of my neighbors borrowed mine and then left it out. It no longer works so now we're down to one.

I recently instituted a tube driving limit. No more than 1/2 hour per day. Seems to be working because they rarely ask any more.
