Don't ever miss a chance to see the Jurasic 5. This was the first time I've seen them. It definately will not be the last. One of the best shows I've ever seen. Do yourself a favor and go see 'em.

Picked up the new Ugly Duckling album Bang for the Buck. Super Duper. I don't know if it's because they are all as white as me or what, but their stuff speaks to me. I like every song. I not being racist, but the last couple of white hip hop bands I've gotten into (Ugly Duckling/Starving Artist Crew) are just what I've been looking for. Head bobbers. They use all sorts of references that I relate to. That on top of some fan-freakin-tastic turn table work by Einstein has got me all fired up.

Also picked up the album that first got me into jazz, Ben Webster meets Oscar Peterson. I use to borrow it from my next door neighbor's parents when I was in high school. I had kind of forgotten about it until somebody had brought up Ben Webster in casual conversation the other day. It still sounds just as sweet. Although just about anything on Verve Records was sweet back then.

I also picked up an older Roots album but have yet to give it a good once over. I now a couple of the songs but don't know the whole album yet. However, it's the Roots man, you know it's good. To quote the grizzled veteran of the music store,"Yeah, the Roots and Ben Webster. That's what I like to see."

I'll throw a few in that clearly head in a different direction:

So my 16 year old son askes me several weeks ago about this band he heard...Dire Straights. Have you ever heard of them Dad??? Heard of them, I replied, I saw Mark Knoffler when I was younger. We proceeded to buy the remastered best of album that is out and it was a huge hang at the channel hit during our last trip to Havi.

I may have mentioned this before, but the tribute album to Sly and the Family Stone that is at Starbucks is the bomb. Several of the cuts stand out, but tons of Hip/Hop and rap talent mixing on Sly originals as the base tracks. Isaace Hayes (of Shaft fame) is on one as is Tyler and Perry from Aerosmith on another... Very...very...cool...



Now for my daughter...she is wading through the cd racks with me at Circuit City recently and she comes up with the soundtrack album to Blue Crush. By far and large, very cool boat music with a variety of fun songs on it...Only a couple that I wouldn't bother to load on the Ipod for her... She also came up with wanting to download Bohemian Rhapsody from Queen. I told her to go to the garage and find it on vinyl...she just laughed at me... I downloaded it for her and it is the first song on her wakeboard sesh list now... Pretty funny that the old adage of what comes around goes around is so true...

I should have noted that I also added for my own aging ears a pile of J Geils Band hits in addition to several Tubes songs including White Punks on Dope and She's a Beauty...Good stuff indeed... I love Itunes...

You know, I'm glad you brought that up. I've been meaning to get some Tubes. "The Completion Backward Priciple" was always the first tape I would grab out of my Dad's collection when I was a kid. I think I'll have to pick that one up.

The first Dire Straights is the Dire Straights to have. Deffinately in my top 20 albums of all time.

Now I've got Freeze Frame stuck in my head. Good 'ol MagicDick.

You guys are all so predictable! As Tige owners we need to take the mix of wakeboarding and music to a new level. Much like the way we adjust the TAPS setting to the ability of the rider, we also need to adjust the music to the situation! Some examples are as follows:

Beginner: Help! (Beatles)
First crossing of the wake: Ticket to Ride (Beatles)
Multiple Boarders: Ride of the Valkyries (Wagner) - Used in Apocalypse Now!
Beautiful Day: The Hills are Alive (Sound of Music)
Rider named Maria: How do you Solve a Problem like Maria (Sound of Music)
When doing inverts: Magic (The Cars)
Cold day: I Smell Winter (The Housemartins)
When pulling priests or pastors: Highway to Hell (AC/DC)

Plate Fork Knife Spoon. More for the jazz heads than anything, but if you're into say....Steely Dan, Galactic, Tortise, even the Beastie Boys-The In Sound From Way Out, you'll dig it. All instumental with some really heavy bass. I can't wait to get it in the boat.
