My Armada constantly shits when I'm towing up and down hills.

I get nervous on hot days with lots of hills, the tranny temp gets awfully close to the top of the gauge as we go up long hills. I asked the Nissan tech once about it, concerned that it was getting too hot. He said that it is supposed to shut down if it gets too hot, so I must not have been too hot. That really makes me feel comfortable.

Good thing that, so far, I only tow it more than 20 miles about once a year

I try to get my speed up before I hit the hill, then I keep just enough throttle to make it up the hill but not enough to downshift. The truck slows down a little and if it slows down too much I'll let it downshift but I'll keep it in that gear until I hit the top of the hill to minimize shifting.

You should check to see if there is a NISMO transmission cooler or transmission case with cooling fins on the exterior of the case for the heat you have in NV.
