No, nothing happens. Everything gets turned on when I turn my ACC switch on. It works regardless if the key is in or not. Just have to make sure that your batter switch is turned on.

And remember to turn it off

Skippa if you want to try and hook the wire back up to the acc post make a little jumper wire with propper mating terminals on the end.
