I looked at it like this. If I don't want the tower speakers on, or the in boats, or the subwoofer then I won't turn that amp on. Save the battery(s). So I split up the amps into zones kind of like how your EQ does, but this gives me the ability to turn on what I want. It's overkill, but it just made sense to me.

I see, Iwndr how much the pull if you have them turned down using a zone controller? I like the blue LED switches!

I wasn't sure, but it's mainly just piece of mind. OOOH... I also have everything wired to my ACC switch on my dash that turns on the radio, the EQ, and the amps as long as teh switches are turned on.

I should also mention that the switches were a request from misses hyphen.
