      Here's a few Z3s and a RZ2 for ya. Only a few hours away.

Haha, hey Nick. I steered em that way a while back too. Tyrell's family boat would be killer(red black and stone z3)
We ever going to get some boating weather?? Finally see 70 on the forecast next week.

Welcome to "philosophy corner" with Dakota.

I thought you were really making a lot of sense spending $30-35K less and getting a 24Ve that performs as good as or better than all these Z3s. Plus they are just pretty. Slap that cash into a college fund, pay off a car, or go to Vegas and bet it all on black (maybe not that last one).
I am all about the wave. If I can make a better wave for a lot less money and have similar ride, room, reliability, etc, I am doing it all day long! There is not a way in heck you have $30K worth of additional fun on the more expensive boat.

I think there is something cool about having something that costs less that out performs all the shiny new stuff. I have always gotten a kick out of that. Kind of perverted, I guess?

The only caveat: you're just flat out rich, and don't give a rats *** about $30K. Then we have a whole new scenario, and I would love to help you boat shop (cough cough RZX2 cough G23 a-hem cough X23).

Had that one 24ve not fallen through we would have been set. Every other one I look at is not as nice and most are more expensive. Trying not to feel like I'm settling. It's getting hard though.

My old one is an 8+ out of 10 and even has the POS Tige SpeedSet eliminated so as to never cause a crappy surf speed again (I installed a brand new Hydrophase GPS speed control). And the sound system absolutely slams.
Gel coat is very good, seats are very good. Motor is rock solid. I purchased a brand new cover.

I would guess it is under 40K easily. I guess the only thing I cannot account for is what has happened to it since it left my house 16 months ago. From what I hear, it has basically not moved.

I would give it a look? As far as surf waves go, it absolutely could not be set up better for a listed 24Ve. I copied every move Ragboy made on his.

Basically what I am saying is, I had a bunch of extra money in that hog and someone should be using it! LOL

I figured Boise isn't too far from SLC so would help out with what they have down there. Didn't realize the one was Tyrell's.
The days have been hit and miss for sure. We are scheduled to do our lake test FINALLY on Thursday since the weather is saying 80! Last couple times had it scheduled it was a crappy & rainy day.

24ve is a hell of a boat... but out performing z3's? Maybe Pre-Avx...... and I would say that might even be a stretch..

I can attest to having 30K worth of more fun in a new boat, but like everything here I guess its a matter of opinion.

Outperforms is just a grossly exaggerated statement no offense.. Been on a killer VE Or two and I dont know if I would say they outperform the newer stuff. Tech has gotten better, hulls have gotten better and thus the waves have gotten better and will continue to do so...

I will say I agree though that if the budget is 40K my first and most likely last look would be a VE

Compared to a $65K Z3? Every bit as good.

New stuff, $95K (okay maybe 75-80K) and better? Your statement applies.

I need to go out with you on your boat sometime, because $30K worth of fun sounds like a riot!

I have surfed Convex VX Z3s....nothing special. Very good, but not enough to stick in your eye better if at all. And if you read carefully, with regard to Ve performance, I mentioned "as good as or better." I threw the "outperforms" statement out there to reference my philosophy in general, and for sure make reference to my Tomcat.

If you can find a good AVX Z3 for $65K, let me know. I will buy it, and sell it for a quick several thousand profit!

But you're definitely right, it is for sure a matter of opinion. This really touches on more far reaching financial and social philosophies in general. I am a very objective, value minded, conservative guy. Boring maybe. Boring probably. My stuff looks great, runs great, performs great. BUT, its old. 2013 Tomcat. 2008 Sequoia. 2012 Honda Odyssey. 2008 335i. Combined value, less than a new surf boat. Of course, I bought it all used and at good deals after a decently long patient search. I decided what I wanted before I looked. But they're all cherry except the van, which my wife and kids have destroyed. Its a sacrificial lamb.

And, I completely understand if boat salesmen don't like me. Car dealers don't really either. Its because I just can't bring myself to go that route. One of these days, I might get stung! Hopefully not, but it for sure could happen.

So my opinions are boring and always angle toward the "bang for the buck" goal. In my opinion. Which, really if I/we think about it, is worth about as much as I charge for it.....nothing.

All I am saying is, a $65K anything vs the $38K 24Ve with regard to utility and surf wave quality is a no brainer--according to my boring old philosophy outlined above. The difference is negligible to minor, and the savings are substantial. But, its not a Z3--you aren't going to find diamond stitch.
