    dcsnowwake,
So why did the bolts break? Any reason given to you yet? Its been about a month since your orginal post so I figured that TIGE would have let you know something by now. You were told they sheared. Telling you that they sheared is great, however, the question is bigger, what specifically caused them to do this?
    Please keep us all informed......

Have your heard anything from TIGE in regards as to why the bolts sheared? Its been about a month now since you got your boat back.

I was looking over tige.com and the life plus warranty and thought of this.
Does this mean tige can no longer truthfuly say " There has never been a single incident of structural failure in any Tige hull, floor, or stringer component."

Not that I dont think tige is amazingly strong boat and I love my 22V, but just the legistics of it.

It is part of the stringer system I think, but that is why I asked.

If it is a motor mount bolt then it isnt part of the stringer system. Those things come with the engine and each manufacturer does them differently.

I thought it was part if the stringer also, but the bolts bolt into the penske extreme thing, so its not part of the stronger. Great idea by Tige' not to have them bolt to the stringer.

I still havent heard what happened, they have all the parts and im still waiting for an answer. My guess is there as clueless as we all are, just a freak thing.

I just posted up my next problem, argh!

                  dcsnowwake,
You really need to get an answer and a time frame as to when they will give you one.

You expect the manufacturer to step up to the plate in an instance such as this and it LOOKED liked they did!

Good for you and cudos to Tige and the dealer!

Flyboy,Fixing it is a good thing and no one is saying anything about that, to determine why it happened is another and they have not determined this. The question becomes what caused the bolts to shear. That is the issue. TIGE needs to figure this out.

Patience, young grasshopper. I'm sure they'll figure it out. There hasn't been a single post on this board or others (that I'm aware of) about this type of a problem. My guess is that there was some flaw in the metal in the motor mount that caused it to fatigue prematurely. The only way to tell for sure if it's an isolated incident or a widespread issue would be to scan them for stress cracks. I doubt any boat manufacturer will do that unless they start having multiple failures.

Tigé couldn’t bolt anything to the stringer because they fiberglass it into the hull. The floor is fiberglassed over the stringer as well, so there is no attaching anything to that baby.

I want to answer some of the questions that have been asked. As for the bolt breaking this has been the first time ever such a thing occured and no it is not considered a structural failure. The stringer system did not fail but the bolt itself. There was no damage to the stringer system and the dealership and Tige stepped up and had the boat completed and back to the customer within a few days. Hope this clears up that question.

All of the information we have received from the bolt supplier can not find anyting out of the norm and with this being an isolated incident I can not give a specific cause of the failure except that we beleive the nut seized onto the bolt which caused the failure. Again this has been an isolated incident.

                              My 2cents

I'm new here...only one week to be exact, but I got to tell you that having a rep respond to our needs and problems on this forum is an ABSOLUTELY wonderful thing.

I am a moderator on a BMW motorcycle forum...talk about issues and problems! Our site has been functional for 5 years and NOT ONCE has any rep from BMW or a dealer for that matter chimmed in to offer thier support.

And for what it's worth...the cost of our BMW's are pretty close to the Tige intro line of boats.

I for one am thankful I choose to buy a Tige for many reason, but having the support I see here in only the first week gives me an extra warm and fuzzy feeling.

No disrespect to anyone...just my 2 cents worth.

                              Cheers, Paul
