Thanks for the caution, but I'm not sure what you mean by "Internet" engines. I have no supplier nearby, nor a marine shop that would do anything other than buy their parts through the Internet. I've purchased a long block from ATP Engines, after speaking with a representative at length. I'm replacing a Quicksilver long block (which replaced the original engine), which we cross-referenced with their long block. Performance stats are the same (333 hp), so as best I can figure it's the same configuration as the Quicksilver.
They made a point that the engines are assembled from new parts, filled with oil, spun up to validate oil pressure, etc., then drained and prepared for shipment. Comes with a 1 year warranty, so I don't know what else I could check.
Truly, thanks for your concern; it keeps me on my toes. Hopefully they don't get squished under an engine block.
