I was actually going to say “I wouldn’t necessarily try this with a half ton”, also.. personally, I wouldn’t put my boat on a half ton, unless it was a nice flat tow, and not the mountains I’ve got in my neck of the woods. I know there are half tons that will pull them, just fine, but that kind of weight on trans and brakes will eat a half ton up pretty easily.. my last truck was a half ton, my enclosed trailer and 63 caddy are probably close to the same weight as our boat and trailer, and it was just too much, but again, a big part of that is terrain.. most of our passes through the sierra take us up 4000-5000’, then back down 8000’, then the opposite coming home.. if you’re in Oklahoma, it’s a whole different deal..
