RZ2 basic ballast to Surf plus

Are the rear sac's drain/vent T-hulls also above the rubrail? Its usually the rear sacs where the passive draining is experienced.

This is ALL of my drains and vents, for both front and rear sacs. There are four thruhulls on each side. That covers drain and vent from port (2), drain and vent from starboard (2), two drains and one vent from the Integrated Bow Sac (3), and one extra for symmetry that will probably be an extra bilge pump someday.

Works great, no antisyphon valves required, easy to monitor while driving, etc. If I had it to do over again I would put them in exactly the same place.

My thru-hulls for vents and drains are already at the rear of the boat so I'll do opposite side for drains and vents, and I'll put a loop in the lines as well to trap and prevent passive draining or filling.

Mike, I know you just got back and have to decompress and post pics, I'm just firming up ideas and getting the ball rolling since the CINCHouse almost gave me the full 100% approval to start with a ballast upgrade. The tipping point for her was that I had to have her help me lift the 150# sacs from one V locker to the other to switch sides. I'm getting better on my heelside or backside or left breaking waves to accomodate her, but friends who learn are usually regular footed.

You might reconsider given how easy this is to do. All plumbing and pumps already exist. Just connect two separate sacks to the existing lines (plus one vent T) and rewire one of the pumps.

I think the ability to have surf-side specific bow weight really cleans up the wave (i.e., similar pocket lengthening compared to U-sack but much less wave mushiness).

I won't gain much weight getting seperate 400 lb bags when the single 400 bag fills the entire space.

Chpthril is up to speed on the 09 bow plumbing -- I bought all the bags and parts for the project from him. On our 2009 RZ2, there was one fill and one drain pump for each side.

I put in two 400# bags -- they do not fill all the way but I think there is at least 300#.

Do the bags extend past the bow seat cusion into the storage area in front of the passenger or driver side? I use the driver side for life jackets and the other side for the anchor and the many bags of stuff we have for the baby and toddler.

Any comments and/or lessons learned to help the process go smoother will be greatly appreciated.

Order an extra 10' of hose. At least. I did and used every bit of it. I still have some to trim off of the vents (whenever I get around to doing the fuel tank switch) but, not more than a couple feet total. I'm also gonna get a couple 1" barb to 1" barb couplers in case of a punctured line and keep 'em in the boat.
