I think there is a minimum amout of weight that you need for when the board is in the air. If it's too light, it doesn't hold momentum and will not follow the rider in the air. I'm tinkering with the idea of a board that is super thin. Perhaps no core at all, just several layers of glass or perhaps just 1 layer of chopped mat as a core. I still like my directional surf style board, so I will probably always shape, for me, along those lines with some type of fins. My preference is for twins.

I don't think we need that much thickness in a surfstyle board - as Nick points out, storage in a rack and more direct responsiveness are benefits of a thin board.

It's so minimal, it's not noticable. It protrudes, MAYBE 1/16 of an inch. I was over at Mike's house looking at his new Lovett model and they are planning on removing that step when they go into full production.

According to Mike, they are basically launching with Surf Expo. We'll see. You know Nick, I could score you a white pintail if you can get the INT folks in Nevada off their collective sofa's.

Right now they are dealing with the awards ceremony, but I plan to get back after them once every thing is overwith (next week). What the hell am I talking about, I'll be at the Air Races all next week. The week after next. Sheesh, I'm loosin' it.

Yeah, I'm usually "out there" this time of year. Ya'all won't hear much from me in the next week (thank God right?). I'm giddy as a school girl when the races are in town. It is the only thing of concern to me for the next 10 days.
