    Wake Surf Board - Help

Looking to start wake surfing next year and I am totally lost on getting a board. I have been pouring over all sorts of forums and can't seem to get a direction on a good board to start out with. Have 5 in my family. From about 70 pounds to 190... Is that too much of a spread for one board *(not opposed to getting two...) Also, I can't get a feel for skim vs. surf... What do most people start with?

x3, You will have such a good time on his boat or yours. Demos, lessons. SQUID is a funny guy! But he knows his stuff.

Definitely give Squid (Allan Kendall) a call and he will help you out! I think most start with Surf style and then you can kind of pick from there.

Start with borrowing or used. You will quickly learn what you like or dislike. We started on a ghetto old landlock, then got a inland surfer yellow lugey. Then progressed on. I would say a 1/4 or less of my friends like skim boards. So I probably wouldn't start with one. Once you find out what you like then it's time for a "real" board. Something handmade and awesome, Squid, soulcraft, shred stixx, xxx, walker, lakewakes, strech etc...(I'm sure I am leaving some off). They all make awesome boards. Inland surfer also makes great boards and they are tough, which is great for less dings, they are manufactured though.

Ok. Gotcha. I didn't realize squid makes his own boards. That's pretty cool. I'll give him a ring. Thanks.

No, Squid doesn't make boards, he just demo's/sells them plus does lessons.
