There used to be a company somewhere around Santa Cruz that would take folks out for the day and do just what you suggest on a PWC. They'd pull you up and back in. Lazy rich man's surfing

@ Nick - is that how the skiers did it? Did any break their necks trying to learn?!
Nah man, its all in the timing. You take three big loops of rope in one hand and the handle in the other and have the boat idle out. When the line gets to the loop, you yell "Hit It!", throw the loops, grab the handle and jump out on the ski and put your back foot in the binding. The good guys would come back with dry shorts and dry hair and execute a perfect drop off and just step out in knee deep water. Hot Dog!
You'll get your chance, smart guy.

Thanks Nick! I'll give that a try when we are out in some water. We loaded the line yesterday - 1,200 feet is a LONG WAY!

The winch mounts in the receiver and after I wore my arm out trying to start it we discovered the on/off label is reversed. So Off = On! Funny thing how those little engines won't run without spark!

Next stop is the water! The biggest challenge for me, I can tell, will be that initial BUMP, when it starts taking up the slack it's quite the hit.

What kind of line is it? I'm assuming its a wakeboard type rope? Not much give in that stuff. Maybe go with just two loops on your beach start. Might be less of a hit.

I think it's a wakeboard like rope. It's called Amsteel (I think) I'm not sure of it's material makeup, it's just what the winch guys use and it comes in these crazy long lengths.

I'm sure that I'm going to do a few face plants before I get that take off down. When the slack went out, it almost pulled me over standing on terra firma.

It works! AND I have pictures to prove it! One small issue, I swear I pulled a groin muscle, hurt like hell, but prior to that, it was a blast!

I didn't get the opportunity to try Nick. After my first pull up I asked James to pull me just a tad faster...which resulted in me being YANKED up and over the board about 5 feet in the air! I could barely stand up after that, I've got some sort of a strain...anyway, that was the end of my session for the day. Hopefully the next time out I'll be able to give that a try. Thanks for all your help with the instruction.
