This thread is more or less a mirror of another thread but, we got my buddies wife up on a wakeboard for the first time this last weekend. Before moving to the area last year she had never even so much as ridden a skate board. Got her up and riding no problem yesterday. Chalk up another new rider.

That's funny. B/c when my wife was teaching me, that's what she said, don't push against the board. I took that a little too literally and almost drowned for half a day. Then my buddy says at lunch...."well you have to try to stand up!"Originally posted by dogbert
People that know how to waterski are the hardest because they want to push against the board.
Congrats! Too bad we couldn't do this for a living
I was letting the boat pull me into a ball, and never standing up! After that, popped right up, no troubles since"I want to know God's thoughts, the rest are just details"

That's what we tell people, let the board push you into a ball and when it's floating, then slowly try to stand up, always keeping the rope at hip level. If you raise too high, you risk a face plant and if you pull the rope towards you, you will fall over backwards.Originally posted by Tequilasun

I picked up the little tip on the start and the one about the rope on your forward hip from Erik Ruck...I figured he was a reliable source
