Blower Fan

I had the boat out, and turned on the blower and it was making a strange sound. There was power to it, but it sounded like something was caught in there. My cousin, who has owned several boats, said that blades on the fan were shot. He said all I have to do is replace the blades. I found in Overton's, a 3 inch or 4 inch blower replacement. My first question is, what size do I need, and second, can I do this myself? Thanks

This is an easy DIY project. The diameter of the vent hose, 3" or 4" ID, determines the size blower fan you'll need. The fan is a simple 12v fan in a plastic housing with hose connections on either end of the housing and mounted with a couple of screws. The wires should be red (+) and black (-). Cut off the old ones and hook up them up to the new one. Make sure the fan is pointed in the right direction (arrow on housing). There are several companies that make these fans with different mounting pads. Look at your old one and try to get one just like it.

Take out the old one and make sure there isn't a twig or something in it causing the sound, but the bearing is probably shot.

Mine's a 3". I suspect that's what most boats in this size range have.

And from my experience, just stick with Atwood. I tried two other brands and BOTH of them crapped out within 30 minutes of use.
