    Noise when starting engine

This weekend I noticed when starting my engine it had a rough sounding noise when starting up. I would only hear it when starting the engine and would only last for second or two. It sounds almost like something grinding when starting. The engine runs fine too. Could it be the starter? Thanks.

It could be the starter. However, I have had 3 starters go out on me. (one in my 21V) None of them gave any advanced warning. They just crapped out all of the sudden. How many times did you start the boat with it producing this sound? How loud was it? I would have someone start it while you listen by the motor to try and pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

Well I started it about 5-6 times this whole weekend and it was the same every time. Although on Sunday I did not hear it. It is not loud at all really, sounds like almost like a rough, grinding sound.

        Hey Matt,

Check your starter mount bolts. They might be loose causing your starter to be miss alingned with your flywheel.

Another Tigé owner suggested the same thing this past weekend. I will check it out. Thanks!
