Ultrasonic speed sensor to replace paddle wheel

Has anyone used one of these to replace the paddle wheel speedo instead of GPS?
It senses speed and temperature and I can't see any reason it wouldn't mount right up and work fine right out of the box.

Might work. How much are they? You can't buy directly from Airmar, you have to use their distributor Gemeco. They are great to work with. We had to get a replacement paddlewheel type for our Carver river boat a few years back and the gauge as well as the transducer were discontinued. They got me hooded up with the correct replacement.

There are usually quite a few of the Airmar transducers on Ebay. Problem is you will need that transducer set up a with the right plug and wire configuration to be a direct replacement. Chances of finding that transducer with a plug to talk to the Tige Touch on ebay is probably 0.

Your boat has an Airmar Tri-ducer, which is not only speed and temp, but depth. Its also worth noting that the Airmar Tri-ducer paddle wheel has been in use by Tige and a number of other manufacturers, for maybe a decade. Hardly a bad design, given its tenure and wide use.

But then again, since it's under warranty I'll let Tige foot the bill and replace it.

I agree. And when the problem is accurately diagnosed and repaired, let us know what is was.
