recently just helped a friend fix his 99 supra boat. calls me up says its over heating... first time out this year... basically took it to one shop in the fall to have winterized.... he had asked them to pump the fuel out and they left it... so made me wonder just what else go missed?
spring rolled around and he took to another dealer to have summerized.... not sure what that entails at the place he went to.. but the boat came to me 2 quarts low, brand new belt on the motor, and now over heating. boat basically sat from spring till last week since they have friends that they ride with.
I spent about 3 hours trouble shooting this thing... you name it.... cylinder test, raw water pump, trans cooler, all intake lines.... and then as I am sitting at work the next day I look at a diagram on paper.. and think... no it cant be... they switched the intake hoses off the raw water so it was blowing all the fake a lake water out.... here i am thinking blown heads.. .but nope... that would not create this issue...
sure enough... i am guessing when the belt change was made whom ever hooked it up.. switched them... lesson to be learned, never assume a shop has it right. just was hard to figure out.. given it had no been used, made me wonder if something major was wrong from the cold winter we had and if it was drained ext..... oh well hope it helps someone down the road.
