    Water pump

I put my 20i (350 mpi) in the water for the first time this spring, looks like the water pump is bad, water is spraying out the weep hole, not a lot, just a fine spray. Given what I described, can anyone tell me that it is indeed the water pump. I know I am living on the edge with my impellar as well, it is at least 4 years old, so I will replace that as well. If the impellar is bad, will water spray from the water pump? I just want to make sure I am fixing the right problem. I did not open the engine up wide, however I did have the engine idoling for at least 15 minutes and all gauges were in range. Thanks.

Ther are 2 water pumps, one down low on the stbd side of the motor with 2 hoses coming out of it, thats the raw water pump and it does not have a weep hole. If there's water coming out of there, replace the housing, it's plastic and probably broken.
The circulating water pump is on the center of the engine and it does have a weep hole to indicate when the internal bearing seal has been comprimised. If there is water coming from that weep hole, it must be replaced because that seal is leaking water into the bearing which will fail pretty soon after. Good luck.

exactly, OK we are on the same page, the weep hole is leaking on the center water pump, the boat is a 2000, it is the original, can anyone tell me if this is just age or did I do something wrong when I winterized the boat that compromised it, I have been winterizing myself for 5 years, never had any trouble, thanks, boatwakes for the info

Should the bearing be replaced as well?

The bearing should be inside the Water/Circ pump. Just like a car.

Water pumps are service as a whole assembly. Do not get an automotive water pump, needs to be a marine. At least they used to be different in how the bearings where seales and they where more heavy-suty then a typical car water pump.

Sorry about the confusion. Replace the entire water pump assembly, do not try and rebuild the unit. They're $100 and like CHP said, marine grade stainless steel impeller and seals, well beyond that of automotive grade.
