    Prop Wash

So I changed out my stock 515 prop for a 911 and went out surfing a couple weekends ago. Everything seemed fine for the first while. I was just started on my second ride and I noticed the wave was almost straight up and down and the prop wash was terrible. I couldnt stay in the wave no matter what I tried. I came and wanted to try driving myself and noticed the boat was pulling to the right quite badly. Checked everything as best I could on the water, nothing out of the ordinary. Trailered the boat and did an ispection, not a nick or scratch anywhere and when the steering wheel is at "0" the rudder is straight....any thoughts anyone??

My mechanic suggested to put the old prop back on and see how it does, I can't see how that would make any difference but I will give it a try...

Guess nobody has run into this problem...anyway I put the old prop on and it still pull to the right. Not quite as bad but still very noticable. If you let go of the steering wheel the boat will basically spin 90 degrees. Its pretty bad. Any way with the old prop on it still does it but now I am starting to notice a slight vibration and a bit of a grinding sound when you pull out of the hole and when you back out of it.

    Tranny problem??

I will check and see if the shaft is bent...

    Any thoughts anyone??

But on a good note I got the wifey talked into a new boat. Specing out an RZR right now!!

I would play around with weight, speed and TAPS and see what that does.

Do you know if your boat has a loaded rudder? Before changing props did you notice the boat always pulled in one direction, maybe not a lot of pull but some? You might be experiencing multiple problems at the same time. Based on other similar symptoms you might need a new steering cable and/or you might need to service the rudder box as well. If you have a loaded rudder and were due for a steering cable replacement, you might have brought the worst of the symptoms to the surface with the prop change. Search for more threads on steering issues.

New steering cable this spring. The boat never pulled like this at all. The problem deleloped in one day. I put the stock prop back on and the problem is still there.

Chp, it does it with both props, no weight, half weight and full...I have everybody I talk to stumped with this one...

Nope, I have been under every inch of that boat. Not a nick or scratch anywhere. What about the rudder box? What does that do?
