    2008 22VE 2500-3000 Hesitation

    2008 Tige 22VE
    5.7 Vortec
    New spark plugs/wires
    New distributor cap/rotor.

    When starting up, boat runs great. But after about 20 minutes of driving, it becomes very hesitant when climbing through 2000 under load. I am led to believe it is a fuel pressure issue. Is there any way i can test the pressure from the fuel rail?
    Bad injectors?? Should i attempt to clean them, or buy new ones.
    Can i test the high pressure and low pressure pumps separately?
    Is there a way to test the regulator?
    I am planning on running diacom software to see if it is throwing any codes. Maybe a misfire.
    Also, Where the f is the diagnostics port??? I have looked all over and under the ECM and around the manifolds.
    I am 15 years old and am not looking to spend over $1000 on parts i dont need.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    DO NOT THROW PARTS IT!!! Diagnose and then repair. It is not throwing codes unless you have an alarm. First, check the fuel pressure using an EFI pressure tester set. The fuel rail on top of the engine with the Schrader valve is where the test port connection is located. If the fuel pressure drops more than 5psi from its normal running state (which should be around 45psi but I can't remember exactly) something in the fuel system is to blame. If the fuel pressure remains constant, you're looking at an ignition issue. The main components of the fuel system are:

    1) the anti-siphon valve located on top of the fuel tank at the fuel line connection to the tank. If this starts to stick and not allow fuel to pass under load it will cause the same symptoms. Testing can be performed by replacing the anti-siphon valve with a plain brass npt to barb fitting available at any hardware store. Once testing is complete DO NOT LEAVE THIS IN PLACE!!!! Replace the anti-siphon with original or new depending on your results.

    2) the in line fuel filter. Replace and test.

    3) the low pressure fuel pump. These usually exhibit similar issues are you're describing. To test, disconnect the electrical to the high pressure fuel pump and disconnect the fuel line at the high pressure fuel pump from the low pressure pump and put it in a container. With the high pressure pump still electrically disconnected, turn the key to the "On" position only and see if the low pressure pump discharges fuel into the container. If not, then it likely needs replacement. If it does, I would suggest installing a low pressure gauge in-line between the low pressure and high pressure pump fuel line. This you will have to fabricate and install inline. DO NOT USE PIPE TAPE FOR THE CONNECTIONS!!! Use Rector Seal pipe dope and brass connections only. the gauge only needs to read up to 15psi and the pump will likely only put out around 7 psi. But when the hesitation occurs, you can check the gauge and determine what's happening.

    If it's ignition related, I would really really, really, look at/replace the ignition coil and module assembly. They also present with the same symptoms. DO NOT BUY THIS PART FROM AMAZON!!!! OEM from Volvo, PCM, Mercruiser, Indmar etc all use the same thing. China uses fish poop wrapped in leathery bacon stuffed into the same housing and they sell it for cheap.

    I'm leaning towards ignition from experience but let us know what you find.
