    Steering

Have a new to me 2007 24VE... the steering has a lot of "slack" in it....it will turn a couple inches either way with no effect on the boat...then, the steering "catches" and turns super easy!!

Any ideas? New cable? If sp, which one?

    Thank you for any help!!!

The steering system is rather simple, only 2 places I can think of where you might get some slack. 1. the connection from the steering cable to the rudder arm or 2. the rudder arm is slipping on the rudder shaft. Either way the best way to test is to watch the cable and rudder assembly under the engine to see what is causing the slack.
