2000 21V Throttle cable clip

The other day I was driving my 2000 21V and the throttle/control stopped controlling the speed of my boat. I quickly put it in neutral, but then engine started revving uncontrollably. I turned off the engine right away. After investigating, I figured out that one of the throttle cables had come disconnected from the arm on the back side of the remote control (throttle). It looks like there is a small clip that came off. I've searched around in the space behind the throttle for this clip and can't find it. I also called a Tige dealership and they suggested I replace the whole control unit (which is about $350 for the part). All I need is a tiny little metal clip...probably a dollar or two. Anyone else had this issue? Anyone know the part number for the clip or the throttle cable? I attached some pictures.

Looks like a cotter or split pin to me. Home Depot has them as does lowes.

The last image makes it look like the piece is broken so maybe the pin won't work on it's own and you need to find the entire assembly that the rod is threaded into.
