    Tige TAPS switch

I have an '02 23 V LTD. The wires to the TAP switch in the throttle frayed and one of wires is now broken. It's so far up in the handle that I can't really get to it to repair it. Can I buy just a replacement switch, if so, where and how is it replaced?

    Thanks in advance everyone!

I would think that if the switch is removable from the handle, then pull it out, solder and heat-shrink an appropriate length of wire to the broken lead, then reinstall the switch and then solder/heat-shrink the new lead to the existing portion of broken wire.

I know I have removed my taps switch out of my throttle on my 01 21V. You just pry it out.

Do a search, someone here had to buy several switches to make a minimum order and had the leftovers for sale. Check it out http://tigeowners.com/forum/showthre...ht=taps+switch . Hope that helps.

          Thanks guys.

Now on to my next issue with this. I'm going to have to remove the switch - either to replace it fully, or do the repair. One of the wires is broken off such that I can't get to it through the opening in the handle. I have tried to pull the wires through the handle and then don't budge. I'm hesitant to just yank them out as I'm afraid I'll have a bigger mess.

The handle has a knob where the taps rocker switch is mounted and there was a small set screw at the base. I removed that set screw and the rocker swicth comes free if I pry it, but the knob is really on there. Does it thread on? Is there a way to get the wires through and then BACK in without removing the knob at the top?

          Thanks in advance!

I think the knob is held on by a small allen-head set screw. Look on the aft side of the handle.

Yeah, I've got that out. Does the knob thread on to the handle?

Surfdad I am running into this issue now while troubleshooting my TAPS system. Did you have any luck getting the handle off?
