yep LOL thanx and I bet you a beer thats the problem the water pump impeller let go and is jammed up and now that he has shut it off it wont turn over.
*I am not sure that info was there from the start but I hit 40 and it is showing cut me some slack will ya.

KKO has a good point about pulling the belt, a locked up impeller or circulation pump can be enough "lock" and engine up. This would explain the belt popping off, the overheating, and now the engine wont turn over.............now that the belt is back on and tight.

I knew a guy way back that replaced an entire 4.3L V6 engine in a GMC Jimmy, under warranty, because the engine was "locked up" It wasn't discovered till he started to remove the new engine because it was "locked up" too. Some one asked how he was able to get the flywheel bolts loose the first time if the engine was seized. It was like a light bulb went on in his head, although a dim one. He then checked all the belt driven accessories and found the alt seized

Engine type

I have a 2001 23v scorpion motor. 330hp... I will try taking the belt off and turning the motor over. I will also pull the spark plugs out thanks. If the motor is not siezed then I will never ever let it run hot again.

I took the belt off and everything turns over. I havent tried the crankshaft pulley yet but if the impeller,alt,idler and water pump turn over it has to be the motor right? Should I remove the spark plugs before trying to turn it over? Again thanks for all the help.

I pulled the spark plugs out and left the belt off and it turned over by hand easy. Then I turned it over with the starter and the port side spark plug holes shot out water. When I was on the lake as soon as I saw it was overheating I killed it fast being the second time it has over heated from the belt coming off. Do you think that I got some water up the exhaust or I blew a gasket from it overheating?

In a boat, one with a non-pressurised cooling system, a blown headgasket would more then likely lead to hydro-lock, like you experienced, and water in oil long before it would lead to overheating. Reason being: the lake is an endless supply of coolant, and water doesnt boil till 212* F, that's why we dont have radiator caps on boats (exception are the alum engines with closed cooling) So, my though is, something caused the engine to overheat, this resulted in a warped head Once the head warped, water was allowed to pass from the cooling passage to the cylinder.

Do a pressure test on the cylinder and see if it holds, if not, See where it leaks - crankcase, water chamber, both. Next, pull the head and see what you find. Be VERY careful removing the old gasket as it will tell a whole lot about what went wrong. If the gasket doesnt look blown and the head and deck are flat, you're looking at a cracked block.

All eight cyl. hold between 200 and 230!! Everyone that has helped me on this site I owe a beer or ten! Of course I'm very happy that my boat is ok but I will back Tige 4life and this site. Thanks a milli for all the help!!

My opinion. If you were breaking belts, you likely had a water pump or raw water pump seizing (assuming open loop system). The temperature might be a red herring as the eng temp thermocouple measures water temp and if it boiled the water out the block, it may have got a lot hotter than it registered. My boat boat was chewing belts as well, but I cleaned some crap out of the raw water pump and fixed the alignment. Doesn't help you with a seized engine though...bummer!
