tear in vinyl on back deck lid

We learned the hard way with our new 2004 22v on the second day out that wakeboard fins are sharp and will poke a hole in the vinyl. I know, I know, stupid...

I am thinking that a vinyl repair tape is the best way to keep the really small tear from spreading, anyone with any experience in this area and/or advice?

A stray cat looking for warmth found my garage and shelter inside my last boat. He was pleased enough to "customize" my deck lid with claw sized vent holes in the vinyl. I went to my local hardware store and bought a vinyl repair kit. I used the clear to keep the smaller tears from growing and the kit did fix the larger tears. The repairs lasted 9 years! Wal-Mart also carries kits like this which will work well.

Cool, thanks. I will give it a shot after I get some runs in tomorrow.
