knowing what engine you have would be a good start
and what type of changer would help also

I'm assuming when you say you bought a changer you mean a sucking device. So here's the steps. Do them in order.

      -Crank tunes
-Crack a beer (or mixed beverage if you wish)
-Pull the oil drain tube out the bilge drain hole on the transom.
-Run the engine on a fake-a-lake for a few minutes to thin the oil.
      -Turn off engine!!
-Open drain line into a bucket. It goes painfully slow.
-You can suck out the oil through the fill hole or the dipstick tube--or both whichever works best. Do this simaltaneously with the draining into bucket.
-Place rags under oil filter to catch drips.
      -Remove oil filter
-Take old one to marina and they will stock the replacement most likely. Also get oil if you need it.
      -Install new filter
      -Fill with high quality oil
      -Have a beer
      -Go play
Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?
