    Transmission fluid question

    Hi guys,
I had a quick question about changing the fluid in my 2006 22ve transmission.

It is a Velvet Drive 10-17-104 1:1, It calls for ATF and that is what is in it right now.

I have read about some people using 30w non detergent oil instead, saying that is what the manufacturer calls for now. Im not totally sure if that is legit information or if it even applies to my transmission. would it be a good idea to change it over or should I just use ATF fluid and not think about it?

    Thanks,

Your 06 unit is a borg warner, which is different from the ZF that was used in later models. I dont recall seeing any updated info from Borg Warner about a fluid change to engine oil. I would check with Borg Warner on that. On the other hand, the walter v-drive in your 06 does use the 30W non detergent.

You do not want to put engine oil in a velvet drive transmission.
