Tried the Gnarly spray and then used the hang ten wax, it worked great!

Next will try the vinyl cleaner.

Any suggestions for detailing around bow hook, cleats and tower? Should I use tape?

Do I need to worry if I have a two tone boat by doing one color at a time?

                    Thank you

Hey all! I recently purchased a 2014 Z3. Seems like a great boat, but it has some oxidation for sure. Any recent thoughts on cutting compounds or waxes to use to restore the finish?

                        Thank you!

                        Matt

I use the Totalboat Totalbuff and Totalboat finishing wax. Once the wax has set, I then go over it with Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions spray ceramic coating. I have been happy so far with the results I got from those two with my old Supra.

Depending on the color and how badly the surface is oxidized you may have a few different paths to get the desired results.

Most of our customers with older boats use Crush Liquid Compound with a wool pad and rotary polisher to remove heavy oxidation. To make sure you have eliminated the oxidation it would be wise to wash or wipe the surface down with rubbing alcohol to remove any residue and reveal the surface finish. This step is crucial in addressing oxidation as you are actually removing the oxidation instead of masking it. Keep in mind if the oxidation is really bad then wet sanding with various grits may be needed before using a compound.

From there as a second step our customers use Refine & Shine Polish with a rotary or gear driven polisher. This step will restore the gloss and remove any swirls left behind from the first step.

The third step would be protection and this is where there are option. Some of our customers who love the wax on / wax off method use Big Kahuna Polymer Sealant with a DA polisher to get a smooth uniform film across the surface. Other customer who are intrigued by ceramic coatings apply our Silica Spray Sealant in a wipe on let cure and wipe off method knowing the product cures in 24 hours. Both methods offer solid results in a self application process.

If you want more ideas to formulate your plan you can see our videos at www.Hulaboatcare.com and if you have specific questions feel free to post a photo of what your boat looks like and I would be happy to guide you and help you meet the expectations you have for your boat.
