    Lube of Steering System

Where/how do you lube the steering system?

The only place I know of is at the rudder box, there is a grease fitting. If your boat is hard to turn you most like need to replace your steering cable.

You can lube the aft end of the cable too. Pull back rubber boot where inner cable exits outer cable, apply generous amounts of marine grease and work cable in-n-out. work as much grease in as possible and pull boot back up. A clamp might be in order if boot does not stay in place.

Thanks everyone. I ended up on a trip to Singapore for a couple weeks. I'll give these a try. If it doesn't work, it may be time to change it out. (Have it changed out.) I'll try to get a picture on here. Lord knows we have a lot of them. J
