    Replace Tracking Fins

    Hey Everyone,

I have a 2001 21V and I am trying to replace the tracking fins, but now that I have the four screws out of them they are still stuck to the boat very well. Does anyone know the trick to removing them once the screws are out?

    Thanks, Jason

They're probably siliconed into place, so you'll need to break them loose.

I attached a racheting tie down strap to the fin and racheted very tight and the fin didn't even budge. I am going to try keeping the pressure on it from the strap and then heating the base of the fin up with a heat gun. What do you think? Will this hurt gel coat?

      -Thanks, Jason

Take a rubber mallet to it. After the removal of the screws then you have to break silicone seal the factory gobs it up with. Just my 2

Rubber mallet or a couple of swift kicks. They are practically cemented on there with adhesive/sealer.
