Anybody ever install pull-up cleats on their boat?

Ditto!! Mine are kinda at funky angles when I tie off. The stern ones are fine but the aft ones are barely in front of the drivers seat--kinda dumb IMO, but maybe there is agood reason for it. One right in the middle of the bow would probably be a great idea.

I'd be down for one for sure if this turned into a group buy.

I use elastic dock buddies, one from the cleat to a forward dock cleat and one attached to the rear transom tiedown bracket via a carabiner to a rear dock cleat. pop-up cleats ... WAAAA! I can even tie off boat to boat with Dock Buddies!

Ok here is what i really hate, THERE IS NO PLACE TO TIE OFF A FENDER IN THE BACK!

The cleat sits just about level or lower then most docks making the attatched fender useless and the rear of the boat unprotoected. We have rigged up numerous things to hold them up higher. The most successful is tieing the fender to the dock, and the least would be tieing it to the strap on the battery box seat.

oh yeah we got those. They are great! but in rough lakes they tend to break. They are perfect at Bull Shoals and lake norfork though.

6" seems pretty big. Boats in storage so can't really check but I don't think mine are anywhere near that big--maybe 4"?

I could be wrong.

6" with a 4" pull is pretty common I think. The flip up ones I just added are that size and it is perfect.

I put four pop-up cleats in last spring. Took me longer to get up the nerve to drill the holes than it did to actually mount the things. I like em, they are the 4" (maybe even 4 1/2") neat-cleats with the big posts, and yeah they were pretty spendy. Oddly enough I don't have any pics , but I put one about 18" from the back corner on the top of the gunwale, and one on each side by the front tower mounts. I had my neighbor make me some big-ole backing plates out of Aluminum, and they don't budge. Had it tied up in a big-a$$ windstorm at the lake last year, with no problems.

Didn't have to, but I did. Had my neighbor make me a couple pieces of alum with the right holes, but was probably overkill.....not that there's anything wrong with over engineering anything

IMO, better to over engineer it than under engineer it. Potentially a lot less damage that way.
