    Belt problem on '01 21V

Last night we put the new fatsacs in the v-drive lockers. When we took off, I noticed that it was slow to plane out (obviously due to the extra weight). Then I felt some weird kind of loss of power for just a second. I looked in the engine engine, and the belt was starting to get chewed up. So, I have a couple of questions.

    1. Is having the fatsacs (700 lbs. total) going to be a problem?
    2. What size of belt do I need to get (350 Merc) and is there a tension pulley on it?

    Thanks for any help guys!

I've got pretty much the same boat as you, except older. You're going to need some extra weight up front also. I've discovered that, on my boat, you want at least 50/50, if not 60/40 front/back weighting.

    Not sure about the belt.

I put a goodyear gatorback belt in mine. Works great, much cheaper. Do a search for the post. I have more info there.
